Excellent guide for Lebanon, a bit dated, but most of the information is still relevant.
Excellent book on Lebanon. The best one I've seen. It gives you an excellent history of Lebanon and up to date travel suggestions.
I found the guide difficult to use, and thought it had few if any good recommendations for bars and restaurants, particularly in Beirut. Fortunately, I had friends in Lebanon so after a few days I set the guidebook aside and just relied on them. I would strongly suggest waiting for the new Lonely Planet Lebanon.
I purchased the new updated 2017 edition this winter. My family is planning a trip to Lebanon next year and this guide is already providing us with important information we wish to know, an overview of the country as well as more in-depth info about areas. It's well-written, an easy read, and just what we need to get started.
I bought this guide before first traveling to Lebanon in 2012. It has been an excellent resource, with lots of helpful background information about historical sites. I look forward to getting the updated guide in 2015.
