I purchased one of these for each of my three children to help them through their grief after the loss of their father earlier this year. All three children love these books and the writing prompts, and especially like the idea of sealing their letters in the envelopes. I definitely recommend this product for children whose father is often away for work or who has passed away.
I purchased this one and the Letters to My Mom as Christmas presents. I love the idea of this and can't wait to present it to my parents. I did have a couple of reservations though:1. It's not clear from the description that the letters are meant to be presented in the booklet. I thought I would be mailing these. I like either method of delivery and for Christmas it works great since I'll give them the whole book, but the description is ambiguous.2. I tried using a fine point Sharpie for my first letter and there's bleeding. I switched to a regular pen, but I'm disappointed it won't be colorful.Last thing: each letter has a "sealed on" date and a "to be opened on" date. I didn't really like this because it felt weird to pick a date when they would unseal my letter. (And to be clear, it felt weird because the prompts weren't related to a date, say Father's Day or Christmas, just thoughts or memories.) To get around this though, I just made up silly specifications like "on a Sunday afternoon" or "a rainy day" - that sort of thing.
Got this for my dad for Father' Day this year. I had fun traveling through memory lane recalling stories and feelings from my life to share with my father and brighten his days. He opened one letter each day and it gave him something special to look forward to each day. The only downfall is that there aren't more variations of the same book so that I can do this year after year. Mom enjoyed hers as well: "Letters to My Mom." I think I'll try my hand at some of the other books for friends, spouse, future self, etc. :)
I have a father who can and does buy anything he wants. He told me this is his favorite gift. Great topics. Just be prepared to spend the time writing the letters and putting effort into them.
My dad loved this. It has 12 different page sizes so you can give your dad a treat for an entire year. I do wish they had come up with 12 topics as I am not very creative but I can see why the last two are blank in case you are more creative.
The “envelopes†are actually attached and they fold out for you to write your letter. My two brothers and I split this up and gave them to our parents for their birthdays. A great sentimental gift for under $20. I like it so much I bought the grad books for my kids. Very sturdy, well make with easy peel stickers that won’t tear your paper.
Purchased this for my Dad and he absolutely loved it. Was a great way to remind him of my love for him. My only complaint was that it wasn’t easy to write the letters due to the book not being long enough and having to find another surface to write on. Otherwise a great purchase!
