As we read through the whole Bible as a family, the Victor Journey Through the Bible is especially helpful for my kids to help connect them with the landscape, culture, and times that we are reading about. The book is high quality print with lots of colorful images. The quality of the content varies from page to page, but overall has been helpful. As a tool to help you and/or your kids understand the world they are reading about in the Bible, this is a helpful tool.
This book is one of the best things I've bought for use with homeschooling. It's nice for the kids to have another resource for what they are studying and this includes culture notes as well, that make it more fun and interesting to learn, especially about the Old Testament. We use it as a supplement, but I honestly think if you are a creative person, you could just buy this book and go through it with your kids yourself. Make up some worksheets and crafts and you're set. :) I would definitely buy this book again, and Amazon's price was the best I've found anywhere for it.
This book is great. We use it for our children's curriculum but I plan to go through the entire thing so we all know more about God's story from this book. Great pictures and easy details that tell us more then we imagined!
I love this book. What a great addition to our Bible study. Great colored pictures and historical content!
This has good articles related to various stories in the Bible, but honestly I felt some of the information was trivial and not crucial to providing insight in the text. I was hoping for a better resource on key concepts or background info that I wouldn't know about the historical context or background of the time. I found about half of the articles helpful.
So enjoyable to read about things that help give greater insight into what the times were like during biblical times.
The book is interesting and informative; however, it is one of those books that could be much better if they did not distort history regarding the land of Israel. It amazes me when I read books by "scholars" who refer to the land of Israel or Canaan as "Palestine." The land as a whole was not called Palestine until after the time of Jesus (and only then to try to rid all mention of and association to Jews in the land), and so when any author refers to the land as Palestine 3,000 years before it was ever called Palestine is not factually correct or honest. It was called Canaan, and it was called Israel, but never until after Bible times was it called Palestine, and then only temporarily. God calls the land Canaan, and then Israel once the Jews were there. The author calling the land Palestine during the days of Moses and Joshua ruins the flavor of the entire book.
Good resource for teaching Sunday School. Next best thing to visiting the Holy Land. Book was in very good condition.
