About the Author
Widely read, widely anthologized, widely interviewed, and widely taught, Adrienne Rich (1929–2012) was for decades among the most influential writers of the feminist movement and one of the best-known American public intellectuals. She wrote two dozen volumes of poetry and more than a half-dozen of prose. Her constellation of honors includes two National Book Awards, a MacArthur Foundation “genius†grant, and a Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters by the National Book Foundation. Ms. Rich’s volumes of poetry include The Dream of a Common Language, A Wild Patience Has Taken Me This Far, An Atlas of the Difficult World, The School Among the Ruins, and Telephone Ringing in the Labyrinth. Her prose includes the essay collections On Lies, Secrets, and Silence; Blood, Bread, and Poetry; an influential essay, “Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence,†and the nonfiction book Of Woman Born, which examines the institution of motherhood as a socio-historic construct. In 2010, she was honored with The Griffin Trust for Excellence in Poetry's Lifetime Recognition Award.

Rich is Rich. Couldnt resist it. As a Bostonian visitor for more than three decades I was surrounded by poets living and dead, and Rich was one of the first lesbians poets I read. Rich is the preeminent Jewess princess and she shares her world in this collection of 1,119 pages of beauty.
A true publishing feat. So good to have these poems under one roof and in my hand.
I have loved this poet all my life and it's nice I hwave everything in one compact volume
Only 4 stars because the copy I received had someone’s greasy fingerprints on the cover and the flaps were bent and folded. 5 stars for the beautiful lifetime of content, though.
Adrienne Rich is well known as one of the most important intellectuals in the 1960s-1970s Feminist movement. She was also a marvelous poet. This book shows her refined, deep and powerful poetry, her voice in favor to social justice, and her ideas about identity and sexuality.
So wonderful to have this book and in such a fine publication.

A monumental collection from a fine poet. Clarity, concision, and a keen insight into the human condition. Big book, though, and heavy.
