Laura Bethmann is an artist who exhibits her nature prints and watercolor paintings in galleries, museums, and alternative spaces. She has demonstrated her nature printing techniques in many venues, including Home and Garden Television, Lifetime Television, The Discovery Channel, and Good Housekeeping magazine. Bethmann teaches workshops for a variety of organizations, including art and craft centers, colleges, museums, botanical gardens, and garden clubs. Inspirational book for those who print from nature. I love her projects and refer to the book again and again. Helpful tips about inks, papers and cloth, tools, methods. I print mostly on textiles, but the book covers all kinds of surfaces including paper, ceramics, clothing, home decor. Book is nicely designed and easy to find your favorite projects. The spiral bound pages are a blessing for artists with inky hands! Print artists of all kinds: I recommend adding this to your library. PS. This book is clearly meant for adults, and the designs, though not difficult are sophisticated. However, the methods can be very easily adapted to projects for kids.
I was very disappointed with this book. I purchased the Kindle version and after quickly skimming thru it I immediately returned it. The book's layout was very unattractive (a surprise considering the topic) and it was very basic and unappealing. I believe that Kindle versions of book tend to be alot less appealing that the paper versions.
Very clear step-by-step instructions for printing on various materials. Many ideas are presented with color pictures showing the results.
I bought this book to learn more about various leaf printing techniques for fabrics and papers, and it does not disappoint. Its presentations are thorough (but require reading carefully, as sometimes key information is tucked away in a side note). The book is itself a work of art!

The basic instructions for different printing methods are followed by idea provoking projects which are photographed in stylish settings. Equally appropriate for the beginner or the experienced printer, it is the best book I have read on the subject.
Hand Printing from Nature is a gorgeous gem of a book about how to capture, preserve, display and enjoy the beauty of nature. The author makes it easy for a novice like me to try my hand at nature printing. Ms. Bethmann's conversational style and easy-to-follow directions helped me create my own art. I highly recommend this book to those who, like me, have long harbored a desire to exercise their artistic muscles.
